The Health Human Resources Working Group (HHRWG) plays a vital role in addressing the region’s pressing health workforce challenges. Comprised of co-leads and members representing diverse expertise and lived experience, the group aims to ensure that Niagara’s health and social care providers can meet the needs of the community effectively. By focusing on system-level strategies for recruitment, retention, and workforce satisfaction, the HHRWG contributes to building a strong, healthy, and diverse workforce to serve the region’s attributed population.

The group’s mandate includes assessing current workforce capacity, identifying gaps, and developing actionable strategies to enhance health human resources across Niagara.

Key objectives include increasing the number of practitioners and team-based care providers, improving attachment rates for vulnerable populations, and promoting equity in the workforce. The HHRWG also seeks to establish strategic partnerships, explore funding opportunities, and share best practices while fostering continuous learning within the network. Through these efforts, the working group aligns with the NOHT-ÉSON’s overarching goal of creating an integrated, inclusive, and seamless health care system.
