Niagara Cough, Cold and Flu Care Clinics

Niagara Cough, Cold and Flu Care Clinics

The Niagara Cough, Cold and Flu Care Clinics are special winter clinics that offer short-term, after-hours appointments for sudden (“acute”) cough, cold and flu symptoms. They are run out of Niagara North Family Health Team locations with support from the NOHT-ÉSON.

The clinics are for people of all ages who have non-emergency cough, cold or flu symptoms and need care in the evening. They are open to all Niagara residents, including people who:

  • Have a family doctor or nurse practitioner, or
  • Do not have a regular primary care provider.

You do not need to be a Niagara North Family Health Team patient, and anyone who lives in Niagara can book an appointment at the clinics. The clinics can assess and treat sudden cough, cold and flu-related illnesses, such as:

  • New cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fever and chills
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Body aches and flu-like symptoms

Nurse Practitioners can:

  • Check your symptoms
  • Give self-care advice
  • Prescribe treatment when needed

If you are unsure if the clinics are right for you, ask when you call to book.

The clinics ARE NOT for emergencies or serious, life-threatening problems. Go to the nearest emergency department or call 911 right away if you have:

  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Trouble breathing or severe shortness of breath
  • Signs of stroke (sudden weakness, trouble speaking, sudden vision changes)
  • Serious injury
  • If you or your child seem very unwell or “not acting like themselves”

The clinics also do not provide:

  • Routine check-ups
  • Prescription renewals for ongoing conditions
  • Long-term follow-up care

Clinics run from Monday, December 8, 2025 to Monday, March 30, 2026 at the following locations:

Appointments are pre-booked only. There are no walk-ins.

On the day you want to be seen, call 289-267-2879.

Phone lines open at 1:00 p.m. on clinic days.

Appointments are first-come, first-served until all spots are filled.

Clinics are staffed by Nurse Practitioners, so there is no impact on Family Health Organization (FHO) physicians and no change to your regular primary care provider.

If you have a family doctor or nurse practitioner, you can bring their information with you so clinic staff can share information as appropriate.

By offering after-hours care for non-emergency cough, cold and flu illnesses, the clinics help:

  • Reduce avoidable visits to emergency departments and urgent care centres
  • Support family doctors and nurse practitioners during a busy time of year
  • Give patients another option for timely, appropriate care close to home
